I can't describe it in any other way than a complete lack of respect for the customers.
Fingerprint hardware android#
Strange - think what you want about Microsoft, but its software is usually top notch, including its Android apps. But the software - I mean all the custom stuff Microsoft did to Android - is embarassingly bad quality. I get that it's kinda 'experimental', so I have no issues with some of its quirks. This is a very expensive device (and it's a beautiful piece of hardware). It fails after a few days, but each time I do the steps mentioned above it comes back to life.Īnd I agree.
That one time I've entered the wrong PIN accidentally, and it came back to life. I've seen many posts on this subreddit regarding this issue, and some folks reported, that after a while the reader comes back to life. Honestly I thought it's a hardware problem (it still might be), but I didn't return the device (I'm from Poland, it's not available in my country, sending it abroad for a warranty check is difficult). This way you can check for availability of hardware and presence of fingerprint on the device and let the OS help you to display a prompt or not. I did a factory reset without restoring from backup - did not help. But maybe it isn't - so I thought I'd share it with you guys. It's also possible, that this is specific for my device. It's also possible, that all of the above is just a weird coincidence and that the reader comes back to life on my device not because of the actions listed above. It's possible that some of those steps are irrelevant. When I enter the right one, nothing gets fixedĤ) Error: wrong PIN.
After a few hours when one goes to settings, a prompt appears encouraging to add a new fingerprint. And each time I follow steps mentioned below, it comes back to life.Ģ) Wait a while. Like many of you, I get the 'fingerprint reader not available' error. But I think I've found the solution to the fingerprint reader issues plagueing many Surface Duo users - myself included. Hi! First of all: I apologize for my bad English.
